We are delighted to be hosting the following educational course that is a MUST DO for serious huacaya and suri breeders interested in maximizing their profits through quality production. You don’t have to be a large farm to participate. This course is about getting the most out of each individual alpaca you own regardless of herd size. Course: High Production Factors™ - This two-day course will cover the relationship of nutrition to alpaca production of quality fleece and healthy cria, and breeding procedures which can help to ensure highest fertility in your herd.
Instructors: Dr. Julio Sumar - Camelid Veterinarian and specialist in reproduction, alpaca show judging and education. Dr Sumar has played a key role in the North American alpaca industry through his expertise and long term experience with camelids. He is currently in private practice as a camelid Vet and consultant in Peru. He is a Founding Director and Principal Instructor of the International Alpaca Judging School in the Altiplano.
- D.V.M from San Marcos University, Lima, Perú (1963).
- Diploma (F.R.V.C.S – Sweden) Post-graduated studies on Animal Reproduction and Artificial Insemination, at the Royal Veterinary College of Stockholm (1969).
- Master of Science, from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala), in the field of Veterinary Obstetrics and Gynecology (1983).
Diana Timmerman is certified to judge both Huacaya and Suri for AOBA and internationally. She has 12 years experience raising and showing alpacas and their fleeces, along with over 25 years experience raising other livestock. Her love for alpacas and her commitment to fleece education was the inspiration for her recent purchase of The Alpaca Breeders Fiber School, LLC.
Diana and her husband, Tim, started Aussie Acres Alpacas in 1994. At the present time, they maintain a small herd of Huacaya alpacas specializing in exceptional genetics. Diana’s family also includes her 25 year old son Jeff and his girlfriend Jenessa, three Australian Shepherds, eight goats and 11 farm cats.
Diana served on The Board of Directors of The Alpaca Breeders of the Rockies, is a faculty member and owner of the Alpaca Breeders Fiber School, LLC, and was also the leader of the Leading Llamas and Alpacas 4-H Club.
